As Portmeirion continued to embrace contemporary design, the brand welcomed a fresh creative voice whose philosophy perfect complemented its commitment to everyday living. That voice belonged to renowned British designer Sophie Conran.

Launched in collaboration with Portmeirion in 2006, the Sophie Conran collection introduces a new perspective on tableware, the one that celebrated simplicity, functionality, and understand elegance. 

Rather than relying on decorative patterns or colourful motifs, Sophie Conran believed that beauty could be expressed through shape itself. 

The signature ripple design

The collection's most distinctive feature is its gently rippled design. Inspired by the natural  movement of hand-thrown pottery, each plate, bowl, and serving piece features soft, flowing contours that create a sense of warmth and artistry. Although every piece is carefully manufactured, the organic form gives the impression of being individually shaped by hand.

Equally important is the collection's colour palette. 

Sophie Conran chose soft, neutral tones (particularly classic white) to allow the unique shapes to become the centre of attention.
